1. Who we are
PadelRanking is operated by WISDOMPRESTIGE — UNIPESSOAL LDA, NIPC 515302767, registered at Rua Dr. Mário Francisco Dias Neves, 149, 4º Dto, 2870-497 Montijo, Portugal — the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. For any question, contact us at privacidade@padelranking.pro.
2. What data we collect
- Identity and account: name, email and profile picture — collected via Google OAuth on first sign-in (the picture is copied once to our own storage, never kept as a direct link to Google).
- Playing profile: gender, preferred hand, court side, city, home club, years playing and self-declared level — filled in by you, always optional and never asked at sign-up.
- Activity: the matches you took part in (date, club, partners, opponents, result), comments and reactions — created by you or by whoever includes you in a match.
- Calculated level: your PadelRanking level and the history of its evolution — calculated by our system from confirmed matches.
- Technical data: IP address, browser language, push notification subscription and a temporary anonymous session — collected automatically as you use the site or app.
- Data about third parties without an account: name and, if provided, a contact for people you played with who don't yet use PadelRanking — entered by you when creating a match (section 5).
- Usage data: if you have an account, we record per day which sections of the site you open (for example ranking, profile, new match) and how many times, with the first and last time. We don't store the exact address of each page — only the type of page, without identifiers — and we don't record visitors without an account.
What we don't collect: full address, exact date of birth (only the year, to verify the minimum age), payment data, health data or continuous geolocation.
3. What we use your data for, and on what legal basis
- Creating and maintaining your account, showing you your level and history — performance of the service contract.
- Calculating rankings and showing your position against other players — performance of the contract.
- Sending transactional notices (result confirmation request, 24h reminder) — performance of the contract; this is the core mechanism of the service, not advertising.
- Sending optional notices (overtaken in the ranking, weekly summary) — with your consent, revocable at any time in notification preferences.
- Creating and maintaining ghost profiles for people who played with you but don't yet have an account — legitimate interest, assessed in our internal Legitimate Interest Assessment (section 5).
- Security, fraud prevention and rating manipulation — legitimate interest, to protect ranking integrity for all users.
- Improving the product, from aggregated and anonymised usage data — legitimate interest.
- Knowing who uses the product and which parts they use, from the per-account usage log (section 2) — legitimate interest, to improve the product and detect problems.
We never sell your data to third parties, nor use it for third-party targeted advertising.
4. Where your data is hosted
PadelRanking's data is hosted on a server located in Nuremberg, Germany (Hetzner, region nbg1), within the European Union. There is no transfer of your personal data outside the European Economic Area.
The only partial exception is authentication, done through Google OAuth (Google Ireland Limited, subject to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework) — we use it only to confirm your identity; we don't share any data about your activity on PadelRanking with Google.
5. Profiles awaiting a claim ("ghost profiles")
When you create a match with someone who doesn't yet have a PadelRanking account, you can register them by name (and, if you want, a contact). This creates an unclaimed profile — a minimal record about that person, so the match gets registered and so they can later claim what's theirs.
- They are never indexed and never show up in any search engine.
- They don't enter public rankings nor count towards anyone's level until claimed.
- They only store a name and an optional contact — never more than this.
- They are never contacted by PadelRanking more than twice, always with a clear notice of who created the profile and why.
- They can be removed at any time, with no need to create an account — contact us at privacidade@padelranking.pro.
We formally assessed this mechanism before publishing it — see our Legitimate Interest Assessment (internal document).
6. Who we share data with
We never sell or rent your data. We share the minimum necessary with:
- Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany, EU) — server and database hosting.
- Google Ireland Limited — authentication (OAuth).
- Cloudflare, Inc. — content delivery and abuse protection.
- Web push service — notification delivery, when you enable them.
Each of these is bound by contract to process data only for the purpose described, never for their own purposes.
7. How long we keep your data
- While your account exists, we keep the data needed to run the service (profile, match history, level).
- After you delete your account, your profile stops existing, but the matches you took part in are not deleted — they are anonymised to "Removed player", because each match also belongs to the other three people who played with you.
- Unclaimed profiles with no new activity are periodically reassessed and removed if the originating club or group has also gone inactive.
- Usage records (section 2) are kept for 180 days at most and deleted when you anonymise your account.
8. Minimum age
PadelRanking is not available to anyone under 16. We ask for the birth year in the profile precisely to prevent sign-ups under 16 — a deliberate decision to avoid the parental consent regime, which may be revisited in the future.
9. Your rights
- Access the data we hold about you.
- Rectify incorrect data — most of it is done directly in your profile, under Settings.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest (sections 3 and 5).
- Withdraw consent for optional notifications, at any time, in Settings → Notifications.
- Lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority — in Portugal, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD), www.cnpd.pt.
10. Cookies and anonymous session
We use a signed, short-lived session cookie to: keep you signed in, store preferences (language, feed) and capture an action you started before having an account. We don't use advertising cookies nor third-party tracking cookies.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Substantial changes are announced inside the app. The date at the top of this page always states which version is in force.
